Irked

Talking to the pregnant partner of our friend who happens to be expecting a baby girl this December, she tells me she wants to throw a baby shower. I say, one of her close friends should organize it for her. And she further says she wants a baby shower so badly because it is a baby girl- because a baby girl is special. That if it were a boy, she didn't care if she had a baby shower or not- because it is JUST A BOY.

Oh my gosh I almost lost it after hearing her say that. She knows I have 2 boys. I could not control not raising my eyebrow though. And when I think about it now, I still get irritated.

I said a baby is special. Whether boy or girl. They are precious. And the more important thing to pray about is that the baby be normal and healthy.

It's sad that she has that kind of attitude towards the gender of her baby. What if it turned out to be a boy?

I would get irked too...I sure hope she doesn't feel that way...all babies are special. I have four boys and only one girl. They're all precious in my eyes. They're different true...but I love them all.

Even my babies like Lip gloss...that's after watching me and the girl trying on a few.

How rude! Unfortunately, alot of women (and men) have specific genders they want and cannot fathom the opposite. So, here's hoping her baby was hiding his privates or that she's a tomboy :)

I wish people awaiting the birth of a baby would understand that the little soul entering the world far outweighs gender and any notions they had tied to either sex.

You have good reason to be irked! It makes me so sad to hear of people thinking one sex is inferior. I'm especially sad when I hear that women break down and cry and are mad when they don't get the sex they want. Some feel this is a normal reaction but I think it's sad! I was ecstatic to find out both of my boys were boys and I would have been just as ecstatic if they were girls.

You showed great restraint, my friend. I'm not so confident I would have been as nice about it as you were ...

Some people just don't get it.

Boys are every bit of a blessing as a girl! Hard to believe a person could feel any other way. :(

That just makes me ill. To think of all the people who want babies and can't have them? Have mercy if she does have a boy.

Sorry if this sounds bad, but that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard of! A baby, no matter if it's a girl or a boy is a blessing.

She should just be happy that she's been lucky enough to have the miracle of having a child.

Anyway, hope you have a good day, Louann :) Thinking of ya! xo
