Sick Kiddos

What could be worse than a baby with colds and a pre-schooler with asthma? I know, there are a lot more things that could be worse. Am sorry. Shouldn't have asked that question in the first place. But sick kiddos are never really a fun time. Never.
Maybe if a one year old knew how to blow his nose then life would be much much MUCH easier.

Last night was spent positioning and re-positioning my baby because he was having such a hard time breathing. The paci would not help because it made his breathing all the more difficult. And he wanted his back rubbed - constantly. Or else he would start to whimper.
So yeah, I am a zombie now.

It has been 15 months since my 5 year old's last asthma attack. Pretty good if you were to ask me, compared to his every 3 months attack when he was younger. But an asthma attack is never a good thing. But the good thing, again, is he likes his nebulizer already. It once was a terrorizing item for him. The sound made him freak out. And then I came up to convincing him it was like wearing the mask of Darth Vader. Today, he knows it makes him feel better - it is his friend.

Darth Vader! What an excellent idea! My oldest had issues with asthma when he was younger. You'll be happy to know he has outgrown it completely! I so know the 1 year old and the cold. My boys had pacifiers too. I used to rock them and we would both(whichever boy) nod off until he awoke being unable to breath again! You have my complete empathy! I hope they ge thealthy soon!

I'm very sorry to hear that your baby has colds. It's really hard for a child to sleep when his nose is clogged. I hope that he will get well soon.

I'm glad that your son is now used to his nebulizer. I remember when I tried it on my son for the first time, he was so scared of the sound. (My son doesn't have asthma but we occasionally use a nebulizer when he has bad cough). Now my son is also comfortable with the nebulizer. I went through my archive. Here's an old post expressing how happy I was when he was able to overcome his fear of the nebulizer (photos included).

Take care and wishing everyone in your family best of health.

That makes me so sad to hear. I do hope this is something he outgrows.

But, when kids need special attention, it's a chance for Mothers to get closer and know their child better than they would have otherwise.

I am sorry to hear about your son's asthma attack. I never get used to it. My son has it, used to have emergency treatment every week.

we changed allergist, and now we only have to rescue him once or twice a year. Change of season is the pitts for him. We rely heavily on Albuterol. Zyrtec for allergies, nasonex for his sinusitis, cingular to make sure he never gets asthma.

Nebulizer...it's a life saver.
